Euro Records - Archivo TK
In April 2006 the rumours proved true: someone was re-releasing the lost material of the TK catalogue from the 1950s. Euro Records began their Archivo TK series with 5 fabulous CDs of the 1950s output of Aníbal Troilo - perhaps his very best era.
Before you get too excited, let me point out that Euro have not suddenly gained access to the lost TK vaults. These CDs are not transferred from the original masters like the RCA Victor 100 Años series, but are good quality lp transfers. There is noticeable surface noise but little distortion, unlike the cds on the Mexican Orfeón label.
As for the music... poised between the dance era of the 40s and the concert era of the late 50s and 60s, this is Troilo at his most innovative and experimental. The astonishing arrangements are by Piazzolla, and many of the compositions too.
In June 2009 Euro added the CD of Salgán.

Horacio Salgán: Silbando 1953-1957

Late last year we had the splendid release on RCA-Victor of Salgán's 1950 orchestra, his first to leave recordings. Now we can hear what happened next when Salgán moved to TK in 1953. Salgán recorded just 16 tracks with TK over the years 1953-1956, with Angel Díaz and the great Roberto Goyeneche on vocals. As a bonus the disc includes 4 tracks recorded in Montevideo in the middle of 1957 on the label Antar-Telefunken. Edmundo Rivero is on vocals
