Osvaldo Pugliese - El Eslabón Perdido
EU 14002
An incredible rarity! The first 12 tracks are Pugliese's lost LP on Stentor from 1960. The remaining three, with very poor fidelity, were recorded in 1948 for the film Mis Cinco Hijos (My Five Children) directed by Oreste Caviglia and Bernardo Spolianskyare. These recordings don't appear in the Pugliese discography, and singer Mario Alonso never recorded with Pugliese on disc.
Having said all that - this CD is mainly for collectors.

Miguel Caló y su Orquesta de Las Estrellas
EU 14003
In 1963 Caló reformed his famous Orquesta de Las Estrellas. Times were bad for tango and Caló was able to gather together nearly all the old names. This disc is a transfer of recordings made live from radio broadcasts on LR1 and LR3 (not studio tapes). The announcers sound as though they are declaiming epic poems rather than introducing the next track. It's all very charming but the fidelity is really poor - much worse than the '40s versions. Given their access to the vaults, this CD is a disappointment.

Orquesta Todo Corazón "Latidos"
EU 14006
This orchestra led by Doctor Pablo Chiale is made up largely of medical professionals and has been nicknamed the Doctors' Orchestra. In the first part of the cd, the arrangements are by the bandoneonista Carlos Pazo (ex Alfredo Gobbi) whilst in the second they are by the violinist Mauricio Marcelli, leading to a quite different sound.

Carlos Di Sarli - 'Tangueando Te Quiero' 1951-1953
EU 14031
For a long time we’ve known that Carlos Di Sarli’s early 1950s sides on TK are even better for dancing than the late 50s ones on RCA. There was only problem: Music Hall went bankrupt and there was a legal problem about publishing the music. You just couldn’t get it anywhere.

In 2008, I heard a rumour that EURO records was preparing a new release in their series Archivo TK. Well, it was true! That project has come to fruition, and the result is this album. At 25 tracks this is a generous album. Don’t think that the sound is as good as the lush late 50s instrumentals on RCA. It isn’t, because the masters are still locked in a vault somewhere, but as ever from EURO the quality is the best available. These are going to fly off the shelves like hot cakes.

Troilo-Grela
EU 14033
In the 1950s, Aníbal Troilo formed a quartet with the guitarist Roberto Grela which ran alongside his activities with his orchestra. Together they created beautiful, sophisticated arrangements of tango music.
They recorded one LP (12 tracks) on TK in the years 1953-1955, and a second (10 tracks) on RCA-Victor in 1962-1963. Recording on two different record labels, and especially with the opaque copyright situation surrounding TK, has meant that these recordings have been difficult to unite on a single CD; only a single Japanese CD until now. The good news is, EURO records have finally done the job! This new release presents all 22 tracks together for the first time on an Argentine release.

Aníbal Troilo - Yo soy el tango (1938-1941)
EU 14041
EUro are independent and so could include the two 1938 tracks from Odeón in this release. This album had a very brief life and I am not sure if it was ever produced in the factory. It is now available on mp3.
